Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why–or even who Tobias Hawthorne is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man’s touch–and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes.
Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions. Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a con-woman, and he’s determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather’s last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.
Wow! This was my first book for by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and it was amazing! I really enjoyed the mystery aspect and it was really good! The short chapters in this book made it also an amazing book! I keep flying through the book. Now gotta do the waiting game for book 2. This was a buddy read with my friend Lori!(: Drew’s ambitious reading rated it: 5.0 from 5.0
I am feeling so stupid. I should have seen that coming from the first chapter itself!!! And I’m still not sure which of the 4 boys I like more. I definitely love them all!! A tiny RTC coming! Devanshi rated it: 5.0 from 5.0
I love this book so much. I haven’t read this genre in so long and this is like a breath of fresh air. I need a second book immediately. I love these characters and it was so fun to read. It’s only getting four stars because it was kind of slow Ayman rated it: 4.0 from 5.0
